How to Torrent a Book

Welcome to Torrent Books, your guide how to safely and easily download books and textbooks! We do not condone or encourage illegal torrenting of copyrighted materials. For more information on books in the public domain that you can legally torrent, visit Public Domain Books.

  1. You've found the book torrent you want to download, but don't want to download all of the books in it? Read on. If you are new to torrenting, please see our Beginner's Tutorial to learn how to torrent a book from beginning to end. Below is guide how to download a single book from a torrent you found on ThePirateBay.

  2. Let's say that you want to download Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, but no other books in the torrent. No problem!

  3. Click the green "Download This Torrent" link next to the "Magnet Link."

  4. After clicking "Download," Transmission or your bittorrent client will automatically open and will show you each book offered in the torrent. If you do not yet have a bittorrent client installed, check out our Bittorrent Section.

  5. Use the Command key or the Apple Key plus the letter "a" to select all of the books included in the torrent. Then, right click and choose "Uncheck Selected."

  6. Find the name of the book that you want to download and click the arrow box for it. Click "Add" to begin downloading the book.

  7. The book torrent you selected will begin downloading in a new Transmission window. Because you are only downloading a small part of a larger book torrent, the progress bar will never fully turn green. You will know when you are done downloading when you see that you are seeding to other peers.

  8. You can choose to remove the seed or continue to share it with other users. To remove, click the third button from the left on the tool bar (the circle symbol with a line through it) and then "Remove." This action only removes the torrent from Transmission and not your computer. A copy of the torrent has already been saved on your computer; you can choose where the file saves using the Transmission Preferences.

  9. We prefer that our downloaded torrent files be saved to our desktop. The torrent will show by its general name and not the book title. In this case, "BBC.Top.100.eBooks."

  10. Open the folder. You most likely downloaded a couple other surrounding torrents. Any file ending in ".part" is incomplete and will not be readable by your ebook reader.

  11. Drag the Huckleberry Finn pdf into your Documents folder of your Kindle or ebook reader.

  12. Eject the ebook reader and check to make sure that the file transferred.

  13. Scroll forward a few pages to make sure that the book is formatted correctly for your ebook reader. If not, please visit our File Conversion Tutorial. In this case, the book downloaded perfectly!
